Rodney Moll, TrendSource Founder & Chairman, 1989
It was 1989, and Kevin Moll had just opened a “friends” style bar and restaurant
in downtown Denver. Having an extensive background in restaurant and hotel management,
he was familiar with the concept of mystery shopping and saw the value in having
his restaurant shopped. After perusing the yellow pages, speaking with other restaurant
owners, and interviewing prospective companies, he felt that what was being offered
fell short of his needs. It became clear to him that the restaurant business could
benefit by the addition of another company and Mystery Shoppers, Inc. was born.
Starting out in the basement of the restaurant, Mystery Shoppers, Inc.’s first clients
were local restaurant owners. Kevin saw the application mystery shopping had for
other industries and invited his brother Rodney to join him in marketing Mystery
Shoppers, Inc.’s services. A corporation was formed and over the next four years
they had expanded the client base to include large national fast food chains, automotive
repair centers, and retail stores. Rodney Moll is now the Chairman and owner of
the company. In 2004 the company made a strategic decision to rebrand itself as
TrendSource, Inc., because it better aligned with the many new services launched
by the company and its future direction for clients.
Today TrendSource resides in San Diego and has provided value added services to
more than 75,000 business locations throughout North America and the Caribbean.
